Colleen’s Fancy are a Yorkshire based duo, Kevin was born in Hull and is of Irish background, He sings and plays the Bodrhan. Kevin is at home singing song both accompanied and accapella. He has many years experience of playing in pubs, clubs and festivals both at home and over seas.
John was born in Leeds and is of Irish/Scottish background, He is a singer in his own right and his main instrument is the guitar, he also plays piano, mandolin and banjo.
Since about 1985 John and Kevin worked together doing adhoc gigs and when Kevin invited John to be half of the Colleen’s Fancy Duo on a full time basis he accepted straight away. They pooled their skills and talents and it wasn’t long before they started to form an appreciation and understanding for each other which has helped them to develop their own unique approach to their music.
They have toured extensively throughout Ireland, both giging and doing the busking circuit which are country wide during the summer. They were winners of the Galway International Busking Competition for 3 years in a row, Swinford Street Festival for 2 years and also at Black Rock.
Kevin has staged five 24hr Marathon Sings for children’s charities, 3 in Leeds, 1 in Dublin and 1 in Galway. In total he raised over £40,000 for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children in the UK and Eire. As a duo they are currently raising money for the Life Boats Stations along the Yorkshire Coast and have collected over £2700 Life Boats Stations along the Yorkshire Coast.
